Fresno ROP

A huge thank you to Granite Construction for hosting our ROP Construction students in Coalinga! Students watched 15 truckloads of asphalt get laid down, learned how crews prep a road before paving, and got a breakdown of the different asphalt mixes and what makes each one unique. The Granite team also explained what happens after paving and showed students the paver up close. We are so grateful for this hands-on learning experience.

ROP/CTE Education Youth Corps Literacy Mentors recently joined the Early Matters Fresno NIC (Networked Improvement Community) as part of a systems-wide effort focused on ensuring Kindergarten students in Coalinga-Huron, Caruthers, and Firebaugh-Las Deltas Unified School Districts are reading at grade level by May 2027. Through engaging training led by Aly Rocco and Abby Petropolus, and in collaboration with the CVRTAC Community Schools Team, students took a deep dive into the science of reading, literacy development, and evidence-based strategies to support young learners in their home districts.

Our very first Middle School CTE Experience was a success! San Joaquin Elementary students learned about the Medical and Athletic Training pathways at Tranquillity High from our ROP students, then spent the afternoon at UCSF getting hands-on with medical students. Thank you, UCSF and Golden Plains Unified, for helping us launch something special!
